KT Rae Kreations is the creative outlet for KT Rae.
I am KT Rae, also know as Kendra Morgan, and I currently work out of the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I have lived and worked in the Midwest, Southwest, and now the Southeast. Florida provides the mild climate and the humidity to nearly duplicate the conditions of Arita, Japan, where my particular branch of pottery was perfected.
My true passion is porcelain pottery crafted in the manner perfected in Arita, Japan. Fine porcelain from Arita has been traded all over the world since the 1600′s. Their specific method of porcelain vessel creation was brought to the US in the 1960′s, and is taught in only a very few colleges around the country. Currently, to my knowledge, only Penn State and UNM-Albuquerque teach this method.
My other passion is wood working. In New Mexico, I had the space to work uninhibited. Here in Florida, I haven’t yet developed the space. Apartment living isn’t conducive to fine sanding projects!
On my path to discovering porcelain and wood working, I dabbled in poetry, short story writing, painting and drawing, photography, jewelry making, welding, and a variety of other media.
I do enjoy all these forms of media and many more not listed. For the past several years, I have felt like I’m drifting, however. Because of medical issues, I haven’t been able to focus on creating the work spaces I need to engross myself in my muses, porcelain and wood. For several years before the manifestation of the medical condition, I had been entirely engrossed in my muse, and let the others fall by the wayside. During the worst bouts with my condition, I let my work spaces slip away from me, so I have just been drifting since.
Something happened recently that shocked me back into my present, and I realized that I can be working on things I enjoy while I work my way back to a place where I can engross myself in my muses once again.
I have the perfect place and environment to nourish my creative spirit, also. I am currently the contracted administrator of Vintage Ink Tattoos, Inc. Vintage Ink Tattoos, Inc. is the brain child and muse of T. Reb Browne. Reb has been tattooing for almost 25 years and tattooing is the only thing he ever wanted to do with his life. As he tells it, when he was a young boy, he told his mother he wanted to be a tattoo artist after seeing a biker with several tattoos.
As the administrator of Vintage Ink Tattoos, Inc. I keep the books, deal with sales people, health officials, pay the bills, and do the miscellaneous creative tasks that are needed to promote the business. With Reb’s help with graphics, I have created the website, www.vintageinktattoos.com, create the business cards, screen print the t-shirts, cut the window stickers, and create all the promotional materials.
The event that shocked me back to the present was working on t-shirts for one of the studio’s contracted artists, Jeremy Scott. Finding a way to transfer a picture to a transparency in order to properly expose the screen has been a real challenge.
As time passes, I will be adding many things to this site. I hope you will check back often for new developments!
